The Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) is a product of the National Planning Framework for Scotland. Partnered by Scottish Natural Heritage and the Forestry Commission, CSGN works to adapt Scotland’s businesses and living environment to climate change.
A crucial aspect of the effectiveness of the organisation is the flow of communication between different projects and their ability to learn from each other in working towards improving methods of practice. Consequently, having a website which is easy to use, not only by members of the public but also workers of CSGN, is a top priority.
Web Foundry worked to strengthen the web design, build and database design using HTML5 and CSS3. A responsive template was also implemented, so that the site can be viewed on desktop, tablet or smartphone screens without any deterioration of user experience. We were able to effectively manage and alter the content and design layout without disabling the flow of communication, incorporating different types and levels of menus for accessing content.
Web Foundry developed custom extensions for the project including an interactive project archive and project timeline. These new features help CSGN give the end user a clear picture of their environmental goals. They also highlight the organisation's case studies showing the work they have done to achieve these.
The site incorporates keyword research and optimisation, which more accurately draws in an appropriate audience. We also provided email marketing services, designing and developing an email template for CSGN's monthly email newsletter.
Web Foundry met with the CSGN team to discuss the requirements of the project. Following a competitive tendering process, the proposal was agreed and we worked on developing the template in the latest Joomla CMS version 3.0. In the end the project was delivered on budget and ahead of schedule (by two weeks!). We continue to provide ongoing support via our ticket desk and CSGN administrators are able to manage content themselves using the admin area of the CMS.
The client was pleased with the improved usability and functionality of their site. Newly created site structures have provided internal brand cohesion and efficiency. Usability has also increased with the implementation of a responsive template. Web Foundry is currently working with CSGN on additional projects as a result of this project's success.
