The Interactive Design Institute is the UK's leading provider of online qualifications in art and design and is a collaborative partner of the University of Hertfordshire. IDI has successfully delivered recognised UK qualifications in art and design online since 2005, helping students develop their creative art skills, prepare for art college, or study towards a career in graphic design, illustration, interior architecture & design or photography.
Despite uncertain economic times, creative industries continue to prosper and demand for creative courses is rising. The Interactive Design Institute is helping to fulfil that need. The website needed to enable them to stand out in such a hugely competitive marketplace. IDI wanted a site that focussed on student recruitment whilst allowing diverse users to find important information quickly and easily.
Web Foundry designed, built and implemented a large system that could handle over 500 pages of content. The key was creating an incredibly intuitive and simple to use site design, so that the end user could easily access the information they required. Students could look for information on particular courses, using keyword searches such as name, level, study mode or subject area.
The site was built using the latest version of Joomla CMS, complete with a bespoke custom template. A number of Joomla extensions were developed specifically by Web Foundry. For instance, the application form integrated with Salesforce CRM, so that all data entered by a student was passed to IDI’s back office sales team to follow up. The form also linked in with the IDI Study site: when students enrolled, all personal data was already present and accurate in the learning management system. Interactive features such as a gallery of student work and video testimonials were also added.
In addition, Web Foundry provided SEO on all key pages, and included a sign up form for email bulletins, which automatically adds addresses to an email marketing list.
Web Foundry met with IDI to discuss the requirements of the project and presented designs and proposals for extensions such as Salesforce integration. Once accepted, Web Foundry developed the website, coding all of the bespoke templates and custom extensions in-house. We continue to provide ongoing support for IDI's websites and offer consultancy as and when needed by their business.
The Interactive Design Institute is going from strength to strength. Having worked with IDI for a number of years, we have helped them develop a site that maximises their presence in the marketplace. Enrolment figures increased by 305% over a two year period.

The client's in-house writer has access to write and save draft content to the website. The content can be reviewed and approved and then published my an authorised manager.
