The Association of Management Professionals (AMPS), part of Unite the Union, is the UK’s leading union for scientists and the pharmaceutical industry. Members are wide-ranging, including managers and scientists in related UK industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, and textile.
AMPS and Web Foundry have a long term relationship which has been going for around 7 years. During that time, Web Foundry have helped AMPS improve communication with existing members and also attract new members. To do so, Web Foundry developed a site that would talk to a wide and varied audience. Recently, Web Foundry upgraded the website with latest version of Joomla available (from 2.5 to 3.4) complete with a fully responsive template.
Web Foundry designed and developed a website that acts as a recruitment and member portal. The site would speak to existing members, whilst communicating the benefits of membership and other services to potential new customers. The user journey has never been so easy: modules were created on the homepage to enable users to sign up / log in / view news / access contact information very easily.
The website includes a password protected section from which members can access downloads, event details and other resources, as well as manage their subscription settings.
Non-members can access a range of resources that promote the benefits of membership and can join online via an application form. The website also includes a news section with a straightforward design to make it conducive to very short, headline style updates. This section is easily updated in-house from the Joomla admin area.
Web Foundry has a very proactive relationship with the client, with regular strategy meetings to check on progress. In the early meetings we discussed the client's requirements and provided advice on how to meet these as well as additional suggestions that would benefit the end user. Once the designs were accepted, we built the website in the Joomla CMS.
Web Foundry also provided consultancy on SEO and training to the client in managing the content from the administration area of the CMS. We continue to support AMPS as required.
AMPS were delighted with the results and the website has been effective in helping them to increase the number of online applications. With the implementation of email bulletins, rather than traditional newsletters, the costs of print and mailing has reduced significantly. The recent Joomla upgrade has ensured the AMPS website remains both current and secure, ensuring their members get the best experience they can provide.
Can get quick access to critical reports and the shared view of her management team
The finance manager is part of the secretariat team that manages the membership renewals. Reports and expiry automations are all a part of the solution.
The event manager can set up new events and save these as a draft or publish live. Backend reports are available to show the status of bookings and delegate information.
The member can login to the website and view member-only content. Members can belong to different groups, each with varying levels of permission and access.
