The Chester Residence offers luxury hotel accommodation in the west end of Edinburgh. Guests stay in chic designer townhouse apartments combined with the luxurious glamour of a five-star hotel complete with full reception and concierge services 24 hours a day.
The hotel required a website that would mirror the level of quality and elegance that it promises its guests. They were also keen to 'up-sell' to users and offer visitors the chance to book one of their many packages online as well as being able to book a room.
The Technical Part
We designed a stylish site that reflects the luxurious, yet modern style of the apartments. The site was very interactive with a clickable map of the residence, providing 360-degree tours of each apartment. Other features include a Live Chat area, image galleries and a newsroom (with special tools to allow their PR consultant to add stories and images), together with links to Twitter, Facebook and TripAdvisor.
A live booking system was implemented, with a custom module that integrated with a third party system - Micros 'MyFidelio' room reservation. Once a guest made a booking, they received an email that enabled them to log on and manage their booking. Each time they added or changed their requirements, the hotel’s front of house was immediately notified. These interactive elements were built to work on desktops and tablets, including the iPad, for which we created a work-around due to the lack of Flash support by Apple devices.
Web Foundry met with the Chester Residence team and their PR consultants to discuss the requirements of the project. Once the proposal was accepted we developed the site in the latest Joomla CMS version. We custom coded the template CSS and implemented the booking system and other interactive features. Web Foundry handle the hosting of the site on our own private cloud server at Amazon Web Services (AWS), and data is backed up daily to the cloud.
We have helped the client to achieve much success in terms of the 'up-sell' and promoting their various package offers. Customers are spending more time on the site and are more inclined to explore added value offers. What’s more using the CMS the client can continue to create new packages quickly and easily and keep the content up to date.
